                                                        Good Things

Sometimes it’s a good idea to stop and think about the good things that you see. So much of life is filled with bad news that we don’t often think enough about the good news. I thought I’d take this opportunity and just list some of the good things God has done around here lately (in no particular order).

• New members.
• Stirred hearts in worship.
• New guests every Sunday and good folks who follow up on them.
• Inquisitive minds in Bible Study on Wednesday night.
• 300 people a night for Cotton Patch and $3500 to Habitat.
• A great cast and crew for Cotton Patch and church members who brought folks.
• A drama ministry that moves us often.
• Committed worship musicians who lead well each week.
• Young people who want to serve others.
• Overflowing bins of pasta and sauce for RAM.
• Leadership with vision for Day Camps and Gift Shops and Fun and Fellowship trips.
• The final phase and next phase of our Second Century Project.
• Kept Second Century pledges.
• Great volunteers who step up to fill in during a difficult moment.

And this is just a token list. Certainly God has been good to us thus far in 2008 and there are certainly good things ahead like:

• Holy Week Worship
• A goal reached for our Easter Offering for Home Missions
• Opportunities to serve our community through Community Kitchen and Meals and More
• Women’s Ministry Brunch and God’s Gift Shop
• A summer Day Camp for our community
• New friends and more new members and some new Christians!

We have seen some good things so far this year. I hope you will join me in praying that God will do even greater things as we follow Him faithfully. Thanks to all whose faithfulness thus far has bourn good fruit.

Blessings,
Monty

Worship Ministry
On behalf of the entire cast and crew of The Cotton Patch Gospel, we thank you for attending and bringing guests with you for the three performances. We have received many praises for the effort, but, “We will be back to visit!” was one of the best.

We especially want to thank those who worked behind the scenes from the Audio/Visual Committee. Many days they worked from 4:00 PM in the afternoon through midnight getting everything ready for the production. There were at least eighteen microphones and eighty one light cues for the musical. A special thank you to Nathan Poorman-Chairman, Bob Linderman, Chuck Hicks, and Dwayne McGuire.

Our Maundy-Thursday service this year will again feature Tenebrae, A Service of Darkness by Hal Hopson. After last year’s experience, many have requested that we do it again. Be sure to invite your friends and family to join us as we commemorate the final hours of our Lord’s life on earth, as he suffered death upon the cross.

Holy Week Prayer Guides

Our prayer team has assembled a special prayer guide to be used during Holy Week.  There is an entry for each day written by a member of our Family of Faith.  These will be available soon from the church office.  Pick one up and use it to make Holy Week even more meaningful.

Easter Lily Orders
Honor a friend or loved one with an Easter lily this Easter. Information forms are located outside the church office, fill it out, and return it to the church office with your payment of $10.00 per plant. Make checks payable to Second Avenue Baptist Church with Flower Fund noted on the memo line. There will be NO special envelopes for these orders. Order deadline is March 17. The lilies will be used for decorating the church during the Easter season. See Dois Rogers for questions.
