The purpose statement of the Music Ministry of Second Avenue Baptist Church is to always lead others to the throne room of God where we can bow down together in His presence. We don't have one set "style" of worship as each week our services are different and the elements change continually. Come and experience our approach to intergenerational worship where genuine worship is always transformational.

Music Ministry Opportunities

PRESCHOOL CHOIR: Ages 3 – Kindergarten. They meet Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. in the Children's Amphitheatre. Our Preschool Choir explores music education through the use of singing, rhythm instruments, creative movement, fellowship songs, and instruments.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR: Grades 1-5 meet Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. in the Children's Amphitheatre. Singing and making music is a fun way for children to praise God. The children experience music education through Orff Instruments, boom whackers, choir chimes, singing, and many other methods. This choir sings in worship services throughout the year.

CHANCEL CHOIR: Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m. in the Choir Room. The Chancel Choir is our primary worship choir. This choir presents music that reflects the varied musical styles of our congregation and community. The choir also provides our ensembles for worship: Women’s Ensemble, Men’s Ensemble, Praise Teams, and quartets.

HALLELUJAH CHORUS: Occasional Sundays, 10:45 a.m.-Choir Room. Ages 14+; This choir is for those who want to sing in worship periodically. They present music that is easily assessable for short rehearsals. Join us any Sunday that they are scheduled before worship at 10:45. Bring the entire family!

JOYFUL SINGERS: All ages; Rehearsals are Aug. 19, 26, Sept. 9, and 16. We travel to communty centers beginning Sept 23. Join us for any of these rehearsals as we prepare to share the Gospel through music.

CHANCEL BELL CHOIR: Audition required; Rehearsal: TBA. Our church is blessed with a five-octave handbell choir that participates in worship throughout the year and during special programs. They also play at area churches, clinics, and the Rome Christmas Parade. The Chancel Bell Choir is enlisting new members at this time.

PRAISE BAND: Audition required. Rehearsals are announced as needed. The Praise Band meets on Sundays when needed for select services that require more contemporary arrangements. We are always looking for new members.

DRAMA TEAM: All ages; Rehearsals are arranged according to members schedules. This ministry prepares drama scenes for worship services and is involved in our major productions throughout the year. For more information click here.
