| Family Ministry - Wednesday, November 05, 2008FAMILY MINISTRIES @
SECOND AVENUE BAPTIST
Sunday Mornings
PRESCHOOL MINISTRY:
At Second Avenue Baptist Church, our priority is to offer all children an environment that is safe, secure, happy, and helps our youngest gifts to take their “First Look” at what it means to know God. Sunday mornings provide the opportunity to do just that!
Beginning at 9:45 a.m., we offer classes and care for Bed Babies all the way up to 4's & 5's. Classes are age appropriate and geared to help our Preschoolers feel apart of our Family of Faith, and learn that God created them, loves them, and wants to be their friend!
Extended Care:
We also offer Extended Care during the morning worship service for our Infants up to 5 yr olds. During extended care infants to 3yr olds remain in the Pre-School area for the entirety of the service.
Our 4's & 5's are brought into the Sanctuary in order to get them aquainted with what it means for them to be present in the worship service. During the service, there is a special time for children where they are invited down front for a Children's Sermon. Following this, our 4's & 5's are taken back to the Preschool Area to enjoy snack, activities, and fun until the conclusion of the service.
Security & Safety For Our Children:
At Second Avenue Baptist, we take very seriously the trust and responsibility given to us when a parent brings their little ones to church.
Therefore, we employ an active Child Protection Policy as well as a security check-in station that offers both individual pagers and tag systems to assure parents that their children are our top priority.
Each of our adults that work directly with a minor are submitted to a background check and must be trained in and adhere to our Child Protection Policy.
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY:
JOURNEYLAND:
What if your children looked forward to Sunday school each week? What if they couldn’t wait to find out what lesson they’d be learning, or how they’d be learning it?
This is the goal of Journeyland…to help children get excited learning about God!
Journeyland is our Sunday school program for children grades 1st – 5th that meets each Sunday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Children are greeted and taught by caring adults that are passionate and commited to guiding our children as they begin to understand what it means to have a realtionship with God and what their place is in our Family of Faith.
YOUTH MINISTRY:
THE INTERSECTION
The Intersection is our Sunday Morning Bible Study for students 6th –12th grade. We gather weekly from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Upon arriving, students can expect a warm reception, breakfast, and a great atmosphere to start your week off right!
At the Intersection students can find a Community of friends, Comfortable space, and Conversation that brings the Bible to life. Join us, bring a friend, and come to the Intersection where life and faith meet!
COLLEGE/CAREER MINISTRY:
THE SOJOURN CLASS
Life and faith are sometimes best described as a journey, or a Sojourn. The Sojourn Class is our Sunday morning discipleship class designed for College & Career students. We meet from 9:45 to 10:45. Students can join us for breakfast, a good cup of coffee, and a lesson to chew on!
We realize that one’s college years can be a very formative time as students begin to find their place in this world. Our goal is to provide an environment where students can come and experience fellowship, engaging Bible Study, and be encouraged to connect their world and their faith and walk hand in hand with God on the Sojourn of Life.
Wednesday Evenings
Wednesday nights at Second Avenue begin with our family night meal at 5:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall and includes many activities for children including a fully-graded choir program and mission activities for boys, girls and preschoolers.
CHILDREN'S MISSION GROUPS
Preschool: Mission Friends (3yrs - 5ys)
In Mission Friends, preschoolers participate in developmentally and age-appropriate learning activities and experiences that help set the beginning stage for a missions lifestyle
Preschoolers learn by doing. As they participate in activities that provide repetition, stir curiosity, create a sense of accomplishment, help develop relationships, encourage investigation, and use their senses, they learn to help others, work together, pray, give, and tell others about God's love and His Son, Jesus.
Through example, imitation, modeling, activities, stories, cultural items, prayer, patience, and love, Mission Friends learn missions attitudes and concepts and the foundations of faith.
Combined Children's Missions Group:
TEAMKID: Children in grades 1st - 5th
TeamKID is a fun, high-energy ministry that encourages kids to know Jesus Christ and grow in a relationship with Him. Every part of TeamKID—Bible stories, Scripture memory, life application and recreation—all connect to teach life lessons to kids.
TeamKid gathers at 5:45 pm for TeamKid Pre-Game; a time for scripture memory and learning the books of the Bible. After a break at 6:00 pm for Children's Choir, children gather back together for a night of fun, learning, and discipleship!
YOUTH MINISTRY:
The Foundry
A mid-week, Youth Bible study that meets at 6:15 p.m. geared to focus on discipleship and what it truly is to follow Jesus in the real world.
True to it’s name, The Foundry is a place where youth can come and be challenged, refined, and directed towards growing into a faith that is both tested and true!
